Oregon Shadow Theatre
Wednesday, January 22, 6:30 pm
The award-winning Oregon Shadow Theatre will perform “Jack and the Dragon (An American Fairy Tale!)” at 6:30 pm on January 22.
“The King and Princess Polly have varmint trouble. Might be a pesky Unicorn. Could be a cantankerous Giant Hog. Maybe a Fire-Breathing Dragon. Who can deal with these troublesome varmints? Why, Little Man Jack, of course, the world champion varmint whacker! Colorful shadow puppets and live banjo and hammer dulcimer music bring this Appalachian fairy tale to life.”

Reading Homework
Spend at least 20 minutes reading (outside of school) every day.
Typing Homework
Level 2 students have typing homework to develop and support important keyboarding skills. Please practice at least 20 minutes per week on: Typing.com
Math homework
It is strongly recommended that your student practice math skills at least 30 minutes (or more) per week.

During the break, support your child by giving reminders about daily practice. 4th graders were given an optional math packet to practice their multiplication over the break.
What’s happening in the Puffin Nest?
This week, students worked to publish their first Fairy Tale Adaptation. We shared stories and reflected about our work as writers.
Puffins have continued to explore Funny Fairy Tale Adaptations through Reader's Theater.
Level 2 students completed another Fairytale engineering project (building a bridge for the Gingerbread man).
Next, we travelled to Portland to see a rehearsal of the Oregon Symphony's Nutcracker Cirque!
