“The King and Princess Polly have varmint trouble. Might be a pesky Unicorn. Could be a cantankerous Giant Hog. Maybe a Fire-Breathing Dragon. Who can deal with these troublesome varmints? Why, Little Man Jack, of course, the world champion varmint whacker! Colorful shadow puppets and live banjo and hammer dulcimer music bring this Appalachian fairy tale to life.”

What’s happening in the Puffin Nest?
We started a new class Read Aloud this week:
Where The Mountain Meets The Moon by Grace Lin. This story incorporates many Chinese folk tales told by the main character's father, which makes it a great fit with our focus on folktales & storytelling!
Puffins are learning about stop motion animation with the stop motion app: Stop Motion Studio. This week they worked in partners to explore the app. This practice will prepare them to make a short animation of a fairy tale adaptation. Over the next month, they will be choosing a favorite piece of writing from our FairyTale writing unit, and will use it to create their own stop motion animation of their own stories.
