How is Your Student's Homework Routine Going?
Level 2 Suggested Weekly Homework:
Reading: Spend at least 20 minutes reading (outside of school) every day.
Reading is on the "honor system" and we ask that you help your kiddo to develop a daily reading routine with good-fit books. At fall conferences we will send home an optional reading genre challenge.
Typing Homework: Level 2 students have typing homework to develop and support important keyboarding skills. Please practice at least 20 minutes per week on: Typing.com
Account usernames and passwords were given out during Family Visits.
Math homework: complete at least 30 minutes (or more) of math practice each week. This can be completed online, with math games, or through worksheets.

Level 2 Project
Our Early Northwest Coast peoples unit continues. This week we went to Roger's Park for Native Exploration day during our O&A this week. Students completed challenges and activities with their family clan groups in three rotating stations. One of the stations revolved around traditional Native American games. At the second station, students created and used natural dyes to begin a painting. At a third station, students jumped into storytelling by retelling and acting out a NW Native legend about their clan animal. Puffins and Plovers had a great day out, building cooperation and camaraderie within their clan families.
Next week, students will rehearse and preform Native American folk tale plays in the Backyard Garden. On October 11th, we will have an in-class presentation from the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. Students will learn how Native Americans used science and engineering to create tools, homes, clothing, and more – passing this knowledge down through generations. They will also have a chance to explore artifacts designed by Oregon’s first engineers and try out their own engineering skills!
