Monday, Sept. 19th: Puffins to Forest Grove Public Library 2pm-3pm
Students will need their library card and a tote bag to carry books back from the library.
NOTE: Classroom teachers can keep your child's library card in their class card-holder for these trips.
Chaperones Welcome! We will be visiting the children's department once each month and can always use parent volunteers to walk with us, encourage our kiddos to make smart choices, and to help kids find and check out books.
- If you would like to join us, please send your kiddo's teacher an email
- On library day, check in first at the school office, and then meet us in the classroom at 1:55
- We will be leaving the school at 2pm and returning at 3pm
Monday, September 19th: Level 2 begins weekly homework!
In Level 2, our homework is on the honor system. We ask families to develop and sustain this important practice at home in a way that works best for you. Having a regular routine (time/place/materials) will ensure that your child will be prepared to tackle their required homework in Level 3 more easily.
Reading: at least 20 minutes reading (outside of school) every day.Make sure your kiddo has access to lots of “good fit” books that they are excited to read. Read-alouds and audio books work too! Listen to your child read out loud, and ask them questions about their reading & thinking.
Math: 10 minutes (or more) of math practice each week day.
If you are able to supervise your child’s math practice at home, we recommend that students use their Eureka “Apply” math homework workbook with adult support. Math workbooks were sent home at family visits. If you missed the family visit, workbooks will be sent home in your child's backpack on Friday 9/16. Next week's newsletter will include a guide for which pages to focus on each week.
For independent computer practice, you can set up a free account for your child:
- Khan Academy: instructional videos and problem solving practice
- Prodigy: answer math questions, complete quests, earn rewards
- SumDog: solve math problems while playing video games
- Math Game Time: no account set-up required
Tuesday, September 20th:
