Please practice at least 20 minutes per week on: Typing.com
2. Reading: Spend at least 20 minutes reading (outside of school) every day.
When you finish a book, add it to your Tower of Books!
3. Math homework: Students should log on to either Dream Box or Khan Academy(see below) and complete 30 minutes (minimum) of math practice.
Current 4th grade math topics:
- FRACTIONS! We are working on comparing fractions
- Our fraction unit was developed with Dr. Gowri Meda. For information about how we approach instruction during this unit, or to get information about how to review concepts at home with your child, visit Dr. Meda's website of math videos: Math Precisely.
- Prefer a worksheet for math homework? Fractions Homework 3
(They know how to do this- ask your kiddo to show you!)
Third Grade Math Parent Information:
Last week, third grade mathematicians practiced measuring perimeter of polygons. At home, you can encourage your child to estimate and measure distances in practical situations. How far is it across our kitchen table? How many people can fit comfortably on the couch? What is the perimeter of the new rug—will it fit in the bedroom? You and your child can go outside to measure larger distances. How many yards is it to the end of the block? What is the distance in feet between two trees? Is the perimeter of the sandbox larger or smaller than the perimeter of the flower garden? You can also involve your child in your own measurement activities - hobbies such as sewing and carpentry are a natural for this.
